The Notorious Swiss Bank Account

If you delight in reading suspense-thrillers and conspiracy narratives, you probably read a lot about the notorious Swiss banks. In fact, I can point out several Hollywood motion pictures that featured Swiss banks in them--- "The Bourne Identity," "The Da Vince Code," "James Bond: The World Is Not Enough," and "Munich" just to name a few.

In most fictitious motion pictures and books, the Swiss banks are often portrayed as a place where thieves and other wicked people store their loot. It's also where filthy rich people deposit their finances and countless assets to keep them hidden from doubtful eyes. However, 'baleful' though as Swiss banks may appear, the truth is, these Swiss financial associations mean well. The furtiveness in which the Swiss bank are singled out for is a tradition that can actually be traced back as far as the Middle Ages.

In truth, even if you're not as well-heeled as, say Bill Gates, you can still apply for your own Swiss bank account. As opposed to what most people believe, a Swiss account isn't only for the well-heeled. Lots of Swiss banks actually accommodate foreign accounts from other parts of the globe. In fact, lots of typical Americans already have their own Swiss accounts. Five of the renowned Swiss banks where any depositor can have their own account are The Swiss Bank Corporation in Basel, The Bank Leu (AG) in Zurich, The Swiss Credit Bank in Zurich, The Swiss Volksbank in Berne, and The Union Bank of Switzerland. Aside from furtiveness, these banks are also well-known for their outstanding client service.
