The Fantastic Easter Affair in Switzerland

Though Switzerland commemorates Easter with the world and practices more or less the same ways, this fantastic country still has its own unique traditions, among of which is the popular decoration of all Easter wells. Springing from the so-called Franconian Switzerland, this folkway mainly focuses on the life-giving factor of water.

In the tradition, Swiss people show their gratefulness for the gift of water by embellishing their wells with garlands and pure eggs. They zealously paint the eggs with varying colors and sometimes, they even put spring flowers around the wells. Meanwhile, the children are elated for the egg hunting games, such as a particular trial wherein somebody who owns the most compact and hardest egg wins. The children also zealously create varying nests for the mysterious Easter bunnies who deliver and hide the adorned eggs.

Because of these incomparable folkways, I can say that it is really wonderful to celebrate Easter in Switzerland; no matter how Switzerland commemorates Easter, the more important thing is the reason behind this celebration. So, the next time you stay the fantastic Swiss region on Easter, remember that the Swiss celebrate such occasion for two things: spring's colorful arrival and Christ's historical resurrection.

Europe's Guardian of Liberation

"We're Switzerland," says Walter Bransen in one of the tightest and captivating circumstances of the "Amazing Race 8: Family Edition". Come to think about it, of the final four teams in the said reality game show, the Bransen family is the only one that never got into a quarrel with the other teams and was comfortable with playing fair and square. In short, they're detached and libertarian in the simplest sense.

With Mr. Bransen's sudden outburst about their stance in the competition, I started to contemplate. Why does everyone bring up Switzerland when it comes to neutrality and decent play? Well, the answer to this subject could be traced back to how it became a nation -- its population and history.

interior and nestled in the Alps, Switzerland boasts a multi-cultural people that speaks Romansch, French, German, and Italian and for hundreds of years, has practiced a sense of nationality and democratic traditions. Its part in world dealings could be best remembered for its neutral stance where it refused to align itself with the Allied or Axis forces during World War II and the Western and Communist ideologies of the Cold War Era thus preventing it from being attacked by foreign military forces. Another impressive thing about Switzerland is that, although it plays host to a number of United Nations' agency, it was never a sector of it until 2002.

A Very Stirring and Absorbing Trip to the Swiss Fashion Museum

I was never fond of going to museums because history and anything primeval were irksome for me. When I fly to different countries, I would avoid going with my parents and with my buddies to visit storehouses or archive buildings for I had no interests in knowing irksome bygone times. However, this inclination changed when I went to Switzerland and was invited by a cute Swiss gentleman to visit the Swiss Fashion Museum. It was not really my type of dating, but I just couldn't resist the mildness of that Swiss gentleman so I went to the museum with him.

I was surprised when I finally stepped foot on the amazing Swiss Fashion Museum or the Musée Suisse de la Mode and was amused with the various absorbing displays in there. I discovered from my date that the Museum stores a very rare and relevant collection of accessories and garments that are about 3,000 in number. The whole Museum converses stories of two centuries of Swiss style and clothing. My eyes feasted on the various brilliant and classy dresses that ancient Swiss worn hundreds of years ago. I could not help my "oohs" and "ahhs" as my date and I tour the Swiss Fashion Museum and explore the appealing past of Switzerland.

The Quiet Pure Life in A Strange Bern Hotel

If you happen to be the type of guest who just wants to go to a far-away land to forget, at least temporarily, the many problems that regrettably afflict urban life, you should give due consideration to this quiet hotel in Bern, Switzerland. It has no impressive facilities nor any major tourist attraction settled nearby to boast of. All it offers is a veritably calm and quiet atmosphere that should serve you in good stead as you try to recharge your energies, and at the same time, get to enjoy, even for a few days, the simple and pure life.

Hotel Kreuz is a remarkable hotel situated in central Berne but properly belongs to the old town territory, making it a really quiet area as it adheres to the old way of Swiss life. This is not say, though, that there are no modern conveniences within the hotel that sightseers can avail of. On the contrary, a number of sophisticated facilities are being served, including a heating system, a luggage area, currency exchange centers, direct-dial phone, and Internet access that is totally free.

Even the local attractions are not that fantastic, which is intentional, since Hotel Kreuz was essentially designed to provide visitors with a calm and uninterrupted vacation holiday. Nevertheless, for sightseeing purposes and for your basic wishes, museums, theaters, and numerous specialty shops are all within walking distance from the hotel.
